Description
Annotating assignments in Canvas student
Explanation/Steps
Students may annotate and submit PDFs using the methods described below. **Note: This is the new process effective Aug. 5, 2021.
- Access the Canvas teacher guide for this feature.
- Access student instructions.
Elementary and middle school teachers: This is the current process, effective December, 2021. While the Canvas Guide above explains the process for students using browser-based Canvas, your students might use the Canvas student app to annotate and submit PDFs. Please see this video or Knowledge Base article for student instruction. If students are having difficulty submitting their annotated PDF to Canvas, they likely need to update the Canvas Student app. They may check to see if they have a version older than 6.14.0 (see the Knowledge Base article to see how to check the Student app version) and download the newest version from the app portal.
Please follow the steps below to create a Student Annotation assignment for iPad users and be sure students use the Student Canvas app:
If you allow student annotation submissions, you must select or upload a file for students to annotate.
You can select a file from course files [1] or your user files [2] or upload a new file from your computer [3].
Files used for annotation must be able to be previewed in Canvas.
